Girls in ICT 2019

Inicio has celebrated the Girls in ICT day since 2016. The International Girls in ICT day is an initiative by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and is celebrated yearly on the last Thursday of April. The aim is  to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICT. To date, over 357,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11,100 celebrations of International Girls in ICT Day in 171 countries worldwide.​

This year we invite 120 girls ,of ages 13 – 19, to participate in a full day of hands on activities and case studies. The event will take place on the 25th of April 09:00-16:00 at KTH Kista. The theme we have selected this year is gaming.

Workshop 1: Build a CubeNode form scratch.

CubeNode is a gamified electronic device designed by Inicio. During this workshop each participant will build a CubeNode from scratch with guidance from our mentors. The participants will get theoretical and practical knowledge about different electronic parts and tools.

Workshop 2: Help Primetime to further develop their quiz game.

Primetime is a trending mobile gaming app that broadcasts fun and educational quizes live everyday. During this workshop the participants will brainstorm on ideas on how to further develop the app in terms of user experience and potential new interaction. All the ideas will be presented in the form of posters that an expert jury will evaluate and come up with the winning ideas.


During lunch KTH students and tech companies will be showcasing their projects and new technologies developed.
