Wednesday 22nd – Thursday 23rd of November, 09:00 – 17:30
On Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd of November we will be at the smart cities fair presenting innovative projects and kits that aim to make today’s citizens, the creators of tomorrow.
Come and learn how Inicio works with developers, schools, and decision makers by providing educational content, tools and activities that enable digital practical learning and sharing of knowledge among students. We will be offering several events during each day of the exhibition that demonstrates how Inicio provides methods and tools for future schools in the form of Mentorspace design, workshops in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and content and tools for digital learning. Join us any time to build your own Artbot, a robot that draws colorful patterns on the floor and see our 3D printer in action. The entrance to the fair is free of charge. Register here.
On Thursday the 23rd, 14:00-14:30, Prof. Mark T Smith and co-founder of Inicio will talk about Human Development and the Role of Education in Smart Cities. (Note: You have to register to the conference to attend the speech)
For Smart Cities to be complete and live up to the promise and opportunities that they can have, there needs to be equally smart citizens who live and work in them. Smart Cities need to architect and build progressive, future looking schools that fit within the new urban environments and can provide the basis for digital literacy that the citizens will need to get full benefit from a Smart City. The non-profit organization Inicio does exactly that. Inicio in conjunction with the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, works with academic groups, city planners, educators, and industry to co-design and operate educational institutions that are concerned with developing youth who are digitally literate, and can function in the kind of advanced environments promised by future Smart Cities.
